Oaxacan goldsmith. Specialized in filigree
The filigree is a special and ancient technique that is used in jewelry that consists of creating fine silver or gold threads, which are worked carefully to weave figures as a lace.
Filigree is an art that is transmitted from generation to generation and unfortunately its "savoir faire" endures in a few master goldsmiths of filigree who spend their days among threads of gold, silver.
With them they draw delicate designs similar to a lace, in which flowers, animals, peacocks, birds, crosses and drops predominate. They are handmade pieces in which the wires are twisted, welded together or linked forever to a sheet of metal that serves as a support. The work is meticulous, delicate and elegant, and the realization of a simple piece like an earring can take between 40 and 80 hours of work of an experienced craftsman.
